Cheap Beer Cocktails | Mixing Up Summer Fun with a Healthy Splash of Beer

I’m pretty sure they have written a country song or two about what I am about to say, but if I could make a living at drinking, I wouldn’t be working here. Well, maybe I would, because second to having a beer in my hand, I enjoy writing about booze. If that were the case though, I am sure my Editor would have to get used to me passing out under my desk and working in my boardshorts most days. Heck, with the coronavirus, that pretty much summed up my work-from-home situation anyway… Good thing about freelance writing is, as long as I can squint and still type, I am good to go. I mean how do you expect me to come up with drink recipes without trying them multiple times, to ensure what I am writing about is true. Hey, Mr. Editor, consider it “fact checking.” I digress…back to drinking, er, I mean, writing.

Summertime is a season to be outside, maybe around the pool, or at a campsite, or a BBQ on someone’s deck. No matter where or when this happens, inevitably some weekend warrior bartender decides they are going to “invent” a drink. “You gotta try this, man, I call it the Trashcan-Rita, they didn’t have “X” so I used “Y,” and then I replaced this with that, and gave it a splash of some random juice and topped it off with beer to give it a bit of carbonation, come on try it!” You choke it down and walk off to make small talk again with some random neighbor about their kids (who you really don’t care about in the first place), but it is better than being the guinea pig for Sh*t-faced Sam again. And you know it’s true… he’s the guy who will be doing belly-flops into the pool by 3 p.m. (please see exhibit A) and pushing college-level-intoxication on the entire party by 4 p.m.; then subsequently passing out in a lawn chair by 6 p.m. (please see exhibit B) only to wake up at 8 p.m with a nasty sunburn. Every party has one, and it’s usually me… except I know what I am doing… trust me, you gotta try these recipes.
