SPYPOINT: Extreme-Range Deer Scouting Cameras
SPYPOINT FLEX-PLUS & FLEX-S For Long-Range Game Recon
(This content is sponsored by SPYPOINT)
We’ve recently taken a look at a number of SPYPOINT trail cameras and have been quite impressed with each one. Both the FORCE-PRO-S-2 and the FORCE-48 have served me very well in the limited time I’ve been able to put them to use. I also reviewed the SPYPOINT FLEX-M and found it to be one of the simplest-to-use cellular trail cameras I’ve ever had the pleasure to test.
Long-Distance Scouting Made Easy
For those hunters—and there are many of us—who prefer to hunt in out-of-the-way spots not easily accessible whether because of distance or terrain, finding a scouting camera that will give us intel on the area isn’t always easy. After all, driving several hundred miles—or hiking for several hours—to change an SD card or install fresh batteries adds more time and expense to your hunting preparation.
Fortunately for hunters like us, SPYPOINT, a top name in cellular-equipped scouting equipment, has two camera models that can make life much easier and long-distance scouting much more effective—the FLEX-S and the FLEX-PLUS. Either of those models might be just the ticket to solve your remote scouting challenges.
SPYPOINT FLEX-S
The SPYPOINT FLEX-S model is designed to give users the performance they want and the power they need to get the intel on even the most remote hunting area. The SPYPOINT FLEX-S delivers the same performance and flexibility of the original FLEX, along with the added benefit of an integrated solar panel charging an internal lithium battery to keep the battery charged and the camera working indefinitely—ideal for a camera set up way out back of beyond. Further, the internal battery can be used alongside the eight-AA battery tray or the Lit-22 lithium battery installed as well, extending battery life even further.
The FLEX-S captures and transmits 36 MP photos and 1080p videos with sound to the SPYPOINT app so you never miss a thing in your hunting area. The responsive trigger—with a .3-second trigger speed—automatically configures the camera’s settings to the exact conditions at the time of the photo to deliver the best photos and videos possible. And like the original FLEX model, the FLEX-S features Instant Mode, which allows on-demand requests. Hunters often use it to capture additional photos or videos after getting new content notifications and also before heading to their hunting spot to ensure they won’t scare away any animals that might already be there.
This is a great little trail camera, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Trailcampro.com, a website that specializes in trail camera testing and reviews, named the FLEX-S the best trail cam of 2024, giving it a 90 out of 100 rating. “The SPYPOINT FLEX-S is a sharp little camera with a sleek appearance and an outer shell that feels solid when in your hands,” the Trail Cam Pro reviewers wrote. “This is an upgraded unit compared to the FLEX with an additional solar panel on the top of the camera.”
SPYPOINT FLEX-PLUS
The FLEX-PLUS is a top-quality camera that helps solve the problem of scouting in remote areas where cellular coverage might not be up to snuff. With Dual SIM technology, the camera comes pre-loaded with two preactivated SIM cards that ensure cross-carrier coverage on all major cellular networks and continue connectivity to the best coverage in your hunting area.
The FLEX-PLUS features four different capture modes—Photo, Video, Time-Lapse and Time-Lapse+. The Time-Lapse function takes photos at the user’s preferred interval, while the Time-Lapse+ function takes photos at the user’s preferred interval and when the camera’s detection sensor is triggered. This is handy for monitoring large areas beyond the camera’s effective detection range.
The FLEX-PLUS shoots 36 MP photos and 1080p videos, with sound, 15 seconds in length. The detection distance is 100 feet, and the flash range is greater than 100 feet. Like other cellular-equipped scouting cameras, this model transmits via very reasonably priced transmission plans through the app, with a free option also available that will transmit 100 photos per month at no charge.
Like the FLEX-S, the FLEX-PLUS also features Instant Mode, which allows the user to change settings and request on-demand or high-definition photos and videos instantly via the easy-to-use SPYPOINT app. Since it is also equipped with Constant Capture technology, this model can send and capture photos and videos simultaneously, ensuring the user doesn’t miss a minute of action in the field or woods. The FLEX-PLUS is also GPS-enabled to work with the maps within the SPYPOINT app. At a price of only $129.99, this is a great deal for a top-quality cellular train camera.
