You've probably heard by now that there's a big shakeup going on with GLOCK handguns. Yesterday, GlockStore.com posted the following statement on social media, which was promptly re-shared getting the online rumor mill churning. Today, Glock has issued a public response.
The GLOCK Rumors
"HUGE NEWS: WE have received news that as of November 30th all Glocks are discontinued except 43, 43X, 48x. All Glocks will be replaced with new Glock 'V Models,'" the GlockStore post said. "These will have changes that prevent switch conversions. At launch, all will be NON-MOS. No pricing changes. Still working to confirm new information."
The website followed up the announcement with this video on YouTube:
The post came days after California's Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1127, nicknamed the "Glock Ban." The new state law bans the sale of GLOCK and similarly designed handguns effective July 1, 2026, including GLOCK Gen 3 pistols that are currently on the state's approved handgun roster.
The bill is a reaction to criminals illegally converting GLOCK handguns with "switches" or “machinegun conversion devices” (MCDs) that allow the pistols to be fired in full auto. Lawmakers in the state have leveled blame at GLOCK, saying the handguns are too easily converted to full-auto fire.
Lawmakers in other states with strict gun laws have echoed the same sentiments. The National Rifle Association (NRA) has already filed a lawsuit against the state of California, arguing that the ban on "Glock-style handguns" violates the Second Amendment and defies U.S. Supreme Court precedent.
GLOCK Responds
Today, GLOCK issued as statement regarding all the hoopla, confirming there is indeed a big change being made to the company's entire catalog of handguns, which was already greatly diminished at the beginning of 2025 as the company culled a significant number of models and iterations.
"Yesterday, a retailer NOT affiliated with GLOCK Inc. made premature statements concerning the availability of certain GLOCK pistols," the Austrian gunmaker said in press release. "The individuals making these representations are not authorized to speak for GLOCK.
"As part of GLOCK’s commitment to future innovations, we are making necessary updates to our product line to align with upcoming offerings. Our dedication continues to be with maintaining the highest level of quality, reliability, and accessibility that you expect from GLOCK.
"The GLOCK V Series is here to establish a baseline of products while simplifying our processes.
"V Models will be available on shelves and for media loan December 2025," the release continues. "GLOCK V Series pistols are marked on the slide and frame with a 'V.'
"Commercial models include:
- G17 V
- G19 V
- G19X V
- G45 V
- G26 V
- G20 V MOS
- G23 V
- G23 V MOS
- G21 V MOS
- G44 V
"Distributor Exclusive Models:
- G19C V
- G45C V
- G17C V
- G19X V MOS TB
"Externally, the pistols remain the same trusted look and performance you already know," the release concludes.
The statement included no additional information.
