The Rolling Stones Will Rock the Ozarks July 21
Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge announced that on July 21 The Rolling Stones will play their last performance of their final North American tour at the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena.
The Thunder Ridge concert is part of The Stones’ Hackney Diamonds Tour. Tickets will go on sale Friday, May 31, and will be available at ThunderRidgeNatureArena.com.
“We’re honored to host The Rolling Stones at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena and to showcase the amazing beauty of the Ozarks to music fans of all generations,” said Johnny Morris, renowned conservationist and founder of Bass Pro Shops. “The Stones are the most iconic rock and roll band ever and we know they will put on a remarkable show that no one will ever forget! Their appearance will become a part of the history of this beautiful mountain in the Ozarks.”
We know what some of you may be thinking, how did a legendary British rock band find its way to the Ozarks?
It Started With a Fishing Trip
More than twenty years ago, Chuck Leavell, The Stones’ keyboard and piano player, joined Johnny Morris to celebrate the opening of a Bass Pro Shops near Chuck’s home in Macon, Georgia. From there, Johnny and Chuck developed a unique friendship based on a love for the outdoors, conservation, and fishing.
As it turns out, Mr. Leavell is one of only three recipients of an Honorary Forest Ranger award from the U.S. Forest Service and is also a recipient of the National Outstanding Tree Farmer award. A conservationist who knows how to rock? We’ll take it!
Ready to Rock the Ozarks
The Rolling Stones concert at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena highlights Johnny’s commitment to creating one of North America’s finest outdoor entertainment venues and sharing the beauty of the Ozarks. More than just a venue for spectacular concerts, rodeos, and conventions, Thunder Ridge is a nonprofit foundation—all event proceeds support conservation efforts.
Situated on approximately 1,200 acres near Ridgedale, Missouri, Thunder Ridge is close to Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge on land purchased by Johnny Morris about 30 years ago. It has hosted plenty of chart-toppers including Garth Brooks, Hank Williams Jr., Chris Janson, Dierks Bentley, Tracy Lawrence, and many others.
Thunder Ridge Nature Arena aims to continue to host a wide variety of concerts; The Rolling Stones performance is only the latest in a summer chock-full of shows already announced for Thunder Ridge. The lineup includes:
- May 25 – Morgan Wallen
