If there’s one thing GunBroker.com knows, it’s cool guns. The “No Lowballers” podcast partners with GoWild and dives into the fun and historic side of firearms.
With ten episodes in its pocket, the No Lowballers podcast is officially on a roll. Led by Logan Metesh of High Caliber History, each episode features a rotating panel of folks from both GoWild and GunBroker.com.
Metesh’s background is impressive. The historian’s accolades include working for the Smithsonian Institution, the National Park Service, and the NRA Museums. He’s been featured as a firearms history expert in the media in addition to writing, lecturing, consulting, and more.
Why We Listen to the “No Lowballers” Podcast
Metesh takes on subjects that range from the mafia’s infamous “Tommy gun” to pop culture icons like James Bond’s Walther PPK. Other subjects currently covered Cold War weapons, hand cannons, hunting and trapping in the Great Depression, and military firearms for civilians.
The fun is in the little details that Metesh and crew keep in their back pockets. Personally, I had no idea that AR-15s were initially marketed in the early 1960s as the modern deer rifle — the Colt Sporter. Did you know that mobsters outgunned police departments and forced law enforcement to up their firepower? I didn’t. The list goes on. And not only is it trivia-ready, this kind of history helps us become better educated about our own relationships to firearms.
Another thing we like about “No Lowballers” is its respect of the clock. Most episodes hit time at under 30 minutes. This means you can easily listen to or watch an episode on your lunch break, on a run, or while running errands.
